This is my #sad painting--a disturbing painting--a #painting I can't take my eyes off of because I can't believe I'm the one who #painted it! It is currently on display as part of "Confabulation," an #exhibit at the Mayer Arts building at Marylhurst University. The longer I contemplate this strange #creation of mine, the more I see it is chalk full of #symbols and #iconography. Most of the symbols were not consciously intentional. There are things in there that are meaningful to me on so many levels, both positive and negative...like an onion. You can peel back an onion one layer, only to find another...and another. The end result is still an onion. Perhaps you enjoy onions. Perhaps you don't. Perhaps you are even allergic to onions! But now you are looking at one. You're welcome. #makeamericagreatagain with appropriation of Kara Walker's "Cut" 30x22 inches, #watercolor, India #ink, #Gouache on #arches cold press. #postcontemporary #pdxartists #instaart
